Canterbury 2 – Extension

KPJ Construction (Kent) Ltd completed this single storey rear extension in Canterbury, transforming the rear of the property into a spacious, light-filled open plan kitchen and dining area. The project began with the demolition of an existing bathroom extension, allowing for a complete reconfiguration of the layout.

To achieve the client’s vision, we reduced the existing internal floor levels and replaced the suspended timber floor with a fully insulated concrete slab, prepared to accept underfloor heating. Significant structural works were undertaken, including the installation of three large steel beams and goal post frames, along with the removal of load-bearing walls to create a seamless open-plan living space.

A key feature of this Canterbury extension is the extensive use of glazing. A glass roof and full-height bi-folding doors were installed to maximise natural light and create a strong connection between the indoor living area and the garden, delivering a true “wow factor”.

The project was completed with new external hard landscaping, enhancing both the functionality and appearance of the outdoor space.
